Passing the baton..

The official handover of the committees from the seniors to the juniors and the honoring of the student achievers of the year took place on the 28th of February 2011.

The day started with Dr. Jagmeet Kaur, the Master of the Ceremony, inviting the senior SEC (Students’ Executive Council) President, Bharat Govindarajan, to say a few words. Bharat gave a rousing speech, wherein he encouraged the students to be more proactive and said that they (the 2009-2011 batch) had done what they could have, and now, it was up to the next batch to take TAPMI to greater heights.

As the event progressed, all the SAC (Student Activity Council) members came one by one to introduce the respective new committees for the coming year and they all wished the new batch the very best for their future endeavors. Be it MIRC or BrandScan, Atharva or the functional Fora or the informal committees, everyone got a thunderous applause as they each had a photo clicked with the Director and Faculty members.

 

Dinakaran next took the stage as the new President of the SEC. He talked of Change being the mantra for the senior batch, and that the new mantra will be Transformation.

The Director, Dr.Saji Gopinath next took the stage to wish both the senior and the junior batches the very best. This was followed by the felicitation of all the students who had brought laurels to the college, by winning awards in events all over the country. Everyone clapped hard as one by one, the award winners took the stage. Be it for quizzing, or scholarships, or B-plans, the TAPMI students had done it all.

Hope that the new committee members work in an outstanding manner and make everyone associated with the college proud. Here’s wishing all of them the Best of Luck!

Events Galore @ TAPMI

The last few days saw a lot of fun activities in the campus. The first among them was Naach, which is the annual inter-class Dance Competition held at TAPMI. Held on the evening of 28th October, Naach was a big success, thanks to the overwhelming participation by almost the entire college! Be it the almost professional performance of Team BPO from PGP2, or the highly entertaining and high on energy show by Team Happy Feet from PGP1, each class made sure that they put their best ‘dancing foot’ forward! The competition was won by Team BPO, followed closely by Happy Feet. The class from HCM also put up a spirited show at the end.

NAACH was immediately followed by DEFI-10, which is the annual Entrepreneurship event at TAPMI. 8 teams with very new and unique ideas were selected to implement their Business plans within the limits of Manipal. Be it the Grab-a-Zorb team that brought Zorbing to Manipal and to TAPMI, or Team Aagama which delivered fresh fruits at every doorstep, or Team LucreSource which did everything from having a chat stall to massaging, DEFI was one event which was enjoyed by one and all! The creativity of all the teams was well appreciated by the students, and everyone is looking forward to DEFI-11 to implement even newer ideas!

The BrandScan 2010 team officially announced the 10 different market research projects that will be undertaken during BrandScan, which is going to be held at the MJC grounds on 13th and 14th November. All the students were divided into groups, with each group working on one of the projects. This Sunday also saw the official opening of BrandScan 2010, with a 5 km. Marathon organized by the students of TAPMI for the cause “Say NO to Drugs!!”

Apart from all these events, the students of TAPMI also celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, inside the campus. Friday evening saw a Lakshmi pooja held in the Student Centre, which was attended by one and all. This was followed by students bursting crackers near the Academic Block, and spreading goodwill among each other. It was another occasion where the entire campus joined hands to celebrate the feeling of togetherness.

Previously, BrandScan has been associated with several other marketing research companies like TNS and Market Insight as well. Association with Nielsen will surely help the Project Leads and their teams to understand and implement the project in a much better way.

BrandScan 2010

BrandScan is a unique Market Research fair conducted by the students of TAPMI. In the 17 years of its glorious existence, it has completed 190 projects for various clients making it the largest market research fair by a B- school in India. It has a unique way of eliciting unbiased and natural responses through the use of disguised games. It boasts of a clientele consisting of blue-chip companies from various domains ranging from FMCG, consumer electronics to the automobile industry. Professional guidance and consultations from reputed research agencies like TNS, Market Insight etc has helped BrandScan develop a systematic three-phase research approach.

During year 2009, projects were undertaken for Hero Honda, Durex, Parle, Perfetti Van Melle, Shaadi.com, Wonder La, The Week, Wildcraft, Wildstone, Amul, Fastrack, Denver and Campus Fever.

The USP of BrandScan is that it serves as a platform for both learning and entertainment.  The format of the event is a gala fair with customized events focused on attracting people for conducting research. BrandScan hosts more than 5000 visitors from Manipal, Udupi and other adjoining areas and remains one of the most awaited events of the year for the region.

The 2010 version of it is scheduled on 13th and 14th November and promises to keep the momentum on with fresh minds , energies and ideas.
