COBCAM 2015, Day1: Morpheus – Mr. Arijit Mukherjee, SVP, Anand Rathi – “Wealth Management in India is a phenomenal opportunity”

The inaugural day of COBCAM 2015 saw the students of TAPMI learn the different aspect of wealth management. Mr. Arijit Mukherjee, SVP, Anand Rathi, shared the different perspectives of wealth management by giving examples. He started his lecture by differentiating between a fund manager and an investment banker. He clearly differentiated them by saying that a fund manager is not an investment banker. He emphasized that wealth management has huge potential in India. It is phenomenal opportunity which should be exploited.

He said that wealth management is based on four major parameters – objective, decision, implementation and monitoring. He started with the importance of objective. In wealth management, it is very important to set the objective considering all the factors. These factors are mainly inflation and returns. Then he moved to his next point of decision making. He said that decision making is a key point, because it decides the fate of portfolio. Investing in right securities is very crucial. One need to see the future before putting money into it.

Then, he came to his third point that is implementation of the decision. He said that one needs to strategize his portfolio in such a way that it can avail the benefit of present as well as of the future. At last, he talked about monitoring the portfolio, which is very important in today’s volatile financial world.
