Disha 2015, Day 3: Sophos – Ms. Anita Borulkar, AVP-HR, Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd. – “Creating a happy workplace plays an important role in employability of organisations.”

Ms Anita Borulkar

T. A. Pai Management Institute was privileged to have an esteemed HR professional with over 20 years of experience at its annual HR conclave, Disha 2015.
Ms. Anita Borulkar shared brilliant insights about how a happy workplace plays an important role in the employability of organisations. In today’s era, it is imperative that organisations use seamless assessment criteria to motivate and protect their employee’s morale. She told the students the role self-awareness and consciousness plays in becoming a successful person in life.
The discussion was focused around employability and self-awareness of individuals. Employability according to her, is a set of achievement skills, understandings and personal attributes that make graduates more likely to gain employment and be successful in their chosen occupations, which benefits themselves, the workforce, the community and the economy.
She said that in order to create happy work places one should start with a simple practice to make one’s own and everyone’s life comfortable. We work hard to achieve our goals in life and then we become unhappy by comparing ourselves with others. It is tough to control stress because of one’s state of mind, but it is always wise to overcome it and emerge as a happy person. This is the essence of being a good manager and leader. As an individual we should make our choices based on our self-awareness, imagination, conscience and independent will.
Employability of an organisation largely depends on its internal environment. A culture of promoting novices to dirty their hands and learn on the field should be created and they should be told the importance of it. She emphasised that a career should start from learning about the crux of a particular function rather than in cozy cabins. If such is the mind-set of people they will never feel dissatisfied while learning the basics of their jobs in entry level roles.
It was a wonderful experience for students to have an interaction with such a passionate lady. She incited a spark of enthusiasm to learn and make the most out of the current opportunities available to them and concluded by giving her best wishes to the students.
