The Alumni Affairs Committee (AAC) is pleased to announce Mr. Balarama Raju (PGDM 1994-96) as the Alumnus of the Month (AoM) for August 2011.
Mr Raju has been associated with Microsoft for over 3 years now and is currently working as a Senior Consultant in Microsoft Services – Global Delivery Enterprise Strategy team in India. Prior to this, he has held the role of a Program (Business Desk) Manager focused on setting up and running the Worldwide Business Desk for MS Health Solutions Group.
After his graduation from TAPMI in 1996, he joined the financial services industry (merchant banking and stock broking). His accomplishments included raising private equity for clients, managing IPOs and setting up a channel for distribution of equity and debt issues. He later worked as an independent consultant and carried out an entry strategy study for a Canadian bank that was planning to set up operations in India. His consulting engagements also included advisory services and preparation of a business plan for the medical equipment division of a German multinational firm.
Mr Raju shifted to the IT industry in 1999 as a functional consultant with the research and training arm of a Dutch ERP vendor. He played different roles in Business Intelligence & Research, Product Marketing and Business Development Support. He also had a brief stint in the banking technology sector working with the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology – IDRBT (the technology arm of the RBI) as a Research Officer. He was closely involved in a project for promoting technology adoption to the Indian banking sector and more specifically developing and rolling out a Learning Management System, which public sector banks could use to train their workforce spread across locations.
Before joining Microsoft, Mr. Raju worked with AppLabs, in the Solution Engineering team as a Senior Manager. Prior to AppLabs, he worked with Caritor (now Keane) as Manager – Business Development Support providing support to the onsite client management and business development teams.
Mr Raju’s personal interests lies in following trends on how technology is enabling development in areas such as financial inclusion and primary healthcare.
